In the last general election, the prosecution handed over former lawmaker Chung Bong-joo to trial on charges of spreading false information during the nomination for the National Assembly candidate for the Gangbuk-eul district of the Democratic Party of Korea.

The Seoul Northern District Prosecutors' Office indicted former lawmaker Chung without detention on charges of publicizing false information under the Public Official Election Act on the 8th.

Former lawmaker Chung is accused of presenting the results of the survey that came out in his favor compared to then-Rep. Park Yong-jin, who was the target of the primary in February, as if it were a survey of voters in the entire district.

The prosecution believes that former lawmaker Chung intentionally announced the false information.

Park Yong-jin, then lawmaker, faced off with former lawmaker Chung Bong-ju for the district election in Gangbuk, the Democratic Party of Korea, but lost the final round, receiving a deduction penalty for receiving the bottom 10% of the parliamentary evaluation.
