U.S., Consumer Price 2.4% ↑...Minimum increase in 3 1/2 years

The U.S. Labor Department reported that the consumer price index rose 2.4% in September from the same month last year.

It was just above the 2.3% expert forecast compiled by Dow Jones but the lowest gain in three years and seven months since February 2021.

Compared with the previous month's consumer price index, it also rose 0.2%, exceeding the experts' forecast of 0.1%.

Excluding volatile energy and food, the core consumer price index rose 3.3% from the same month last year and 0.3% from the previous month, respectively, beating expert expectations by 0.1%p.
