The first trial of Kim Hye-kyung, the spouse of Lee Jae-myung, the leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, has been designated as the 14th of next month.

The Suwon District Court said yesterday (10th) that it will hold a final hearing on Kim, who is suspected of violating the Public Official Election Act, on the 24th and then proceed with the sentence on the 14th of next month.

In order to judge the credibility of the testimony, the court delayed its decision, which it had previously announced, saying that some financial information such as the accused and meal attendants who ordered the submission of the document had not been obtained.

In the meantime, during the trial, evidence was presented that contradicted the testimony of the lawmaker's spouse, A, who had a meal with Kim.

A testified that he paid for his meal in cash after eating with Kim, but the court explained that the details of the restaurants' payment terminals were not confirmed.

In response, Kim's lawyer argued that this alone cannot confirm the payment of cash.

Earlier, Kim was put on trial on charges of providing a meal worth 100,000 won to party officials using a Gyeonggi-do corporate card after Lee announced his candidacy for the party's presidential nomination.
