It has been predicted that Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba, who took office on the 1st, will not visit the Yasukuni Shrine during the fall pre-deposit period.

Kyodo News quoted an official as saying that Prime Minister Ishiba has decided to hold off on visiting the Yasukuni Shrine during the upcoming 17th-19th.

It is not known whether Prime Minister Ishiba will pay for the payment.

Japanese government spokesman Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshimasa Hayashi said at a press conference today that "the prime minister will make a proper decision."

Digital Minister Masaki Daira and Revival Minister Tadahiko Ito also said at the press conference that they would not pay tribute.

Meanwhile, the Sankei Shimbun reported that lawmakers from the bipartisan "group of lawmakers visiting the Yasukuni Shrine together" have visited the Spring and Autumn Lease Festival and the Pacific War on August 15 every year, but decided to postpone the fall Lease Festival because it coincided with the election period for the House of Representatives.

Prime Minister Ishiba is said to be passive in visiting the Yasukuni Shrine, where Class A war criminals from the Pacific War join.

Former Prime Minister Fumio Kishida did not visit Yasukuni shrine for three years in office, but paid tribute.

Yasukuni Shrine is a facility to commemorate the 2.466 million spirits killed in the war in Japan before and after the Meiji Restoration, and 14 Class A war criminals from the Pacific War are also included.
