Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission recommends 'mandatory subscriptions to damage insurance' for small and medium-sized public construction companies with less than 20 billion won

The Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission recommended related organizations, including the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, to make it mandatory to subscribe to damage compensation insurance even for small and medium-sized public construction projects worth less than 20 billion won and to reflect insurance premiums in construction costs.

Yoo Chul-hwan, chairman of the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission, held a regular briefing at the Seoul Government Complex today (11th).

Now, among public construction projects ordered by the government or local governments, it is mandatory to purchase insurance that guarantees accident damage and damage for large-scale construction projects worth more than 30 billion won.

The Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission also recommended to the National Institute of Technology and Standards to improve the recognition method of accredited testing institutions related to building material quality.

Currently, the National Institute of Technology and Standards recognizes certified testing institutions through the Korea Certification Organization, and certified testing institutions certify the quality of building materials.

However, there is a side effect of companies that produce building materials establish their own testing institutions and request tests of their products after being recognized as an accredited testing institution.

In addition, the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission recommended to the Ministry of Environment to improve the selection method so that the participation of new companies or small and medium-sized companies is not restricted when selecting public sewage management agencies.
