Russian court orders arrest of CNN reporter who covered Kursk

A Russian court has ordered the arrest of a US CNN reporter who covered the Ukrainian-occupied Russian border of Kursk, AFP reported.

In a statement on Wednesday local time, a court in Renninsky, Kursk province, ordered the arrest of CNN reporter Nick Payton Walsh, calling for his extradition to Russia.

Payton Walsh is a British national journalist who served as a Channel 4 news reporter in the UK and as a Guardian Moscow correspondent.

Earlier in August, Russia indicted Western journalists who came into and covered areas controlled by Ukrainian forces when Ukraine attacked Russia's Kursk.

Russia stresses that foreign journalists must obtain visas and obtain permission from the Foreign Ministry to visit Russia legally.
