With the next U.S. presidential election just over 20 days away, former President Donald Trump, the Republican presidential candidate, has replaced his public relations chief.

U.S. Internet media Axios reported that Trump's campaign headquarters put Tim Murtov, who served as Trump's campaign press director during the last presidential election, in charge of directing communication and public relations activities in the last month before voting.

Sources say Murtov will oversee the social media, quick response and research activities of Trump's press team, while coordinating media appearances by those representing Trump.

"This is based on the need to better coordinate public affairs activities in line with former President Trump's increasing statements on policy targeting Democratic presidential candidate Vice President Kamala Harris," Axios said.

"This demonstrated the influence of Susie Wiles, co-chief of the campaign team, who succeeded in keeping Trump's favorite agitators and camps at a certain distance over the past few weeks," he said.

However, Trump's campaign headquarters is trying not to give the impression that the public affairs team has been reorganized, maintaining the titles of public affairs team members and not informing them that Murthoff is in charge of public affairs activities instead of senior adviser Brian Hughes.
