Domestic airlines fined 13.8 billion won for "non-compliance with safety" for more than five years

Over the past five years, domestic airlines have been fined 10 billion won for violating safety operations laws.

According to the data submitted by Ahn Tae-joon of the Democratic Party of Korea from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, the fine received by eight national airlines from 2019 to August this year was 13.8 billion won.

By airline, Korean Air had the largest number of flights with nine, followed by Jeju Air and T'way Air with seven, respectively, and Eastar Air with six.

The airlines were sanctioned for caught drunk driving by cabin crew or for operating with some of the wings of the aircraft damaged.

In addition, Jeju Air had the largest combined penalty of 3.74 billion won since 2019, followed by Eastar Jet and T'way Airlines.
