According to the proportion of freshmen from 3 Gangnam districts received by the Ministry of Education by Kim Moon-soo of the Democratic Party of Korea, a member of the National Assembly's Education Committee, 13.29% of the 2024 freshmen from 39 medical schools nationwide were from 3 Gangnam districts.
The proportion of new medical students from Gangnam 3 districts decreased to 14.86% in 2021, 13.35% in 2022, and 12.91% in 2023 and then expanded again this year.
Among the 39 medical schools this year, schools with the highest percentage of people from Gangnam's 3 districts reached 33 out of 95 freshmen, accounting for 34.74%.
Looking at the entire departments of so-called "Sky" universities such as Seoul National University, Korea University, and Yonsei University, 1,519 out of 2,062 freshmen were from 3 Gangnam districts, 12.59%.
