According to the data received from the Ministry of Health and Welfare by Jeon Jin-sook of the Democratic Party of Korea, a member of the National Assembly's Health and Welfare Committee, 9,136 of the 4,463 majors appointed in March this year resigned, and as of the end of last month, 1,327 majors belonged to training hospitals.
Of these, only 553 were eligible to take the qualification examination for specialists next year, and 576 were eligible to take the qualification exam, including 23 majors who resumed training in the second half of this year.
This is only 20.7% of the 2,782 people who took the specialist qualification test this year, compiled by the Korean Medical Association.
By specialized subject, 96 family medicine departments, 91 internal medicine, 61 orthopedics, 40 mental health medicine departments, and 33 emergency medicine departments.
