Novelist Han Kang's Nobel Prize in Literature has brought the publishing industry back to life.

In particular, printing and binding companies are screaming happily despite overnight work.

Reporter Lee Kyung-guk went to the scene.

A printing company in Paju, Gyeonggi Province.

From early in the morning, a huge printing machine is constantly pouring out papers with dense letters.

This is the printing of Han Kang's novel 'Doesn't Say Goodbye,' which deals with the Jeju 4.3 incident.

After the news of Han Kang's surprise award was announced, the printing machine has been running 24 hours a day, with tens of thousands of requests for supplies.

Employees who work shifts and protect the factory are also busy, but their hearts are lighter than ever.

[Jung Dae-geun / Print company employee: I'm printing Han Kang's work, and I hope this happens a lot even if it's hard]

The same goes for the binding company next door.

Plaintiffs piled as high as an adult's chest are tied up well and waiting to be born into a single book.

Another company that binds the masterpieces 'The Boy Is Coming' and 'The Vegetarian' is also busy.

All employees have been working hard since the day after the news of the award was announced.
For readers waiting for the
book, we've shortened the process from five days to two days, which used to take about a week.

[Cho Tae-hwan / Head of a binding company: We always hang out because we don't have work, but suddenly good things happen to the literary world, so we have a lot of work.... (Do you think the era of paper books will come back?) Yes, I hope so.]

Interest in Han Kang is also continuing.

Wreaths celebrating the award arrived one after another in front of the house,
Even though the bookstore represented by author Han Kang
did not open, steps continued to leave certified photos.

Citizens who went out to Paju Publishing Complex, a sacred place for readers, were also noticeable for the holiday.

[Lee Seung Hwan and Lee Yoon Seo / Garak-dong, Seoul: There are many books and the atmosphere is good, so I came here often.... I read a lot of novels, but when I read a lot, I forget where I am and I think I just venture out.]

Not only the publishing industry but also citizens hoped that Han Kang's award would increase interest in Korean literature and even reading.
