It was pointed out that Suhyup Bank's social contribution decreased even though the proportion of hundreds of millions of annual salary among its employees increased due to improved performance.

According to the data received by Chung Hee-yong, a member of the National Assembly's Agriculture, Food, Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Committee, from Suhyup Bank, the proportion of high annual salary of more than 100 million won among all employees of Suhyup Bank increased by 13%p from 21% in 2019 to 34% in 2023.

On the other hand, the cost of social contribution during the same period decreased by 1.5 billion won from 7.7 billion won in 2019 to 6.2 billion won in 2023, and the payment of the Rural Win-Win Cooperation Fund, which was designed to enhance competitiveness in farming and fishing villages, was only 350 million won over five years.

Lawmaker Chung urged the government to come up with measures to strengthen social responsibility, saying it seems difficult to avoid criticism that the fisheries cooperative was busy "filling its own family" at a time when many fishermen have recently been struggling with rising fuel costs and high interest rates.
