The police investigated 4,076 people for violating the Public Official Election Act in connection with the 22nd National Assembly election and sent 1,300 people to the prosecution.

An official from the National Police Agency said at a regular press conference today that as a result of the crackdown on election offenders in the 22nd general election, 142 people were investigated and 32 people were handed over to the prosecution.

By type, the spread of false information was the most at 1,509, followed by bribery and damage to banners and posters.

The total number of people subject to investigation increased 81.9% from 2,241 during the 21st parliamentary election, as the scope of the prosecution's election investigation narrowed after the adjustment of the prosecution's right to investigate the police.

The statute of limitations for violations of the Public Official Election Act related to the 22nd general election expired on the 10th.
