In a statement today (14th), the Seoul Medical University and hospital professor's emergency committee criticized the Ministry of Education's measure to suspend medical students who take a leave of absence from school, saying that it is constitutional to pay or remove them from school if they do not return and not allow them to take more than two semesters of leave of absence.
He also asked back whether the government has the authority to suppress individual freedom no matter what the reason for the leave of absence, and stressed that students' leave of absence should be approved without conditions.
In addition, the Ministry of Education said not to repeat stopgap measures and seek a fundamental solution, adding that it should present a plan to properly teach medical school next year even now, five months before the start of school.
