According to the data received by Baek Seung-ah of the Democratic Party of Korea, a member of the National Assembly's Education Committee, from 10 national university hospitals, 57 resignation majors claimed 15 million won in damages per person to the national university hospital where they worked.Nine national university hospitals, including Seoul National University Hospital, are eligible for
claims, with a total bill of 855 million won.
Chonnam National University Hospital had the largest number of resignation doctors who filed a lawsuit with 16, 11 at Seoul National University Hospital, 8 each at Kangwon National University and Chungnam National University Hospital, and 6 at Pusan National University Hospital.
It was found that resignation doctors filed a lawsuit claiming that they suffered losses due to delays in the processing of resignation letters, which disrupted employment or opening of the hospital.
Of the 13,531 majors as of last month, 13,732 resigned, accounting for 86.7%, which could lead to class action by majors.
Lawmaker Baek Seung-ah said that if the hospital loses the lawsuit, it will lead to class action and worsen hospital management, stressing that the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Health and Welfare should come up with administrative and financial support measures.
