The Ministry of Science and ICT said it has agreed to set up a "Gaia-X Korea Hub" to support Korean data companies entering the European market.
Gaia-X is a key platform for the European Union, the world's second-largest data market, which aims to create a single data market to boost the data economy while building a reliable data ecosystem.
Korea is also establishing a 'national data infrastructure' that provides data materials and transaction information for each private and public sector in one place.
Song Sang-hoon, head of the Ministry of Science and ICT's information and communication policy office, said, "Strategic preparations are needed to secure national competitiveness in a data-driven society," and said he will support Korean data companies to actively engage in activities in the European market through cooperation with the European Union.
