Hanwha System is the first Korean company to succeed in exchanging data with low-orbit satellites with lasers.

Hanwha System announced that it has completed the mid-range communication performance test of ISL and laser communication equipment for low-orbit satellites at the Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology in Gwangju for three days from the 8th.Low-orbit satellite communication, known as

Starlink', is a technology that provides Internet services by deploying thousands of satellites 200 to 2,000 kilometers above the Earth, which is lower in orbit than conventional satellites.

Among them, ISL is not a radio wave used for wireless communication, but a light "laser," and it is a technology that SpaceX and Amazon are working to commercialize.

Hanwha System, which has been developing ISL in collaboration with Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology, plans to work with the University of Bern in Switzerland within this year to conduct additional performance tests at an altitude of more than 4,000 meters above sea level similar to the space environment.
