Ships on both sides have clashed again amid heightened tensions between China and the Philippines over a territorial dispute in the South China Sea.

The Philippine Fisheries Agency said in a statement that on the 11th, a Chinese maritime civilian ship deliberately hit one of two vessels belonging to the Fisheries Agency on regular patrols near the island of Titu in the South China Sea.

The agency added that the collision damaged the starboard bow side of the affected ship, but that it was able to keep its position and carry out its mission.

The collision comes three days after a Chinese ship fired a water cannon at a Philippine ship in the South China Sea on the 8th.

The Fisheries Agency said on the 9th that Chinese coast guard ships fired water cannons at two vessels belonging to the Fisheries Agency near the Scarborough reef.

China has been at odds with neighboring countries, drawing nine U-shaped lines in the South China Sea and claiming that 90% of the inside of the line is its own territory.

In particular, the two countries are sharply at odds with each other due to physical clashes, including the firing of water cannons by a Chinese coast guard ship on a Philippine ship.
