The National Assembly's petition for the impeachment of National Police Agency Commissioner Jo Ji-ho has exceeded 50,000 petitioners in eight days and has been handed over to the Judiciary Committee, the standing committee in charge.

On the 7th, the petition filed by an incumbent police officer in the district office claimed that the police chief was abandoning his duties and ordering police officers and citizens to die intentionally.

This comes after the National Police Agency last month took measures to require police officers at the scene to record the location of the patrol car and the reason for the stop every two hours and report the location and work status from time to time by radio.

When asked about his position on the impeachment petition at a press conference the previous day, Commissioner Cho said, "The public demand is to do our best during working hours, and it is difficult for me to agree that I cannot agree to this."

The National Assembly's petition for public consent is subject to a review of the requirements of the petition if more than 100 people agree, and if 50,000 people agree within 30 days of posting the petition, it can be referred to the standing committee under the jurisdiction of the National Assembly and put up or discarded at the plenary session.
