Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudenko told reporters in Pakistan that South Korea's actions against North Korea could be perceived as provocations that harm stability on the Korean Peninsula and further escalate tensions.
At the same time, he stressed that it is time to stop the dangerous development.
"Russia will provide military aid to North Korea in the event of a conflict on the Korean Peninsula," Rudenko also said, referring to the "strategic partnership agreement" signed by Putin and Kim Jong-un in June.
Article 4 of the North Korea-Russia Strategic Partnership Agreement states that if either party is in a state of war due to an armed invasion, the other party shall provide military aid without delay.
Earlier, a spokesperson for Russia's foreign ministry also agreed with North Korea's claim in a statement, referring to the drone incident, calling it "a violation of its sovereignty and interference in internal affairs."
