The Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education issued a statement today (16th) and announced that the decision was made in consideration of the educational value of stable operation of the school and guaranteeing students' right to choose a school.
It is also added that it is to resolve the confusion related to high school entrance by students and parents due to the uncertainty of canceling the designation of autonomous private high schools.
Earlier, the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education decided to cancel Hwimungo's designation as a private high school in 2020 with the consent of the Ministry of Education after finding that the chairman of Hwimungo and the chief administrative officer embezzled more than 5.2 billion won in an audit in 2018.
Later, Hwimungo filed a lawsuit to suspend and cancel the designation of its own private high school, and lost the first trial, but the second trial court ruled in favor of Hwimungo.
