People's Power emphasized that the behavior of some public opinion manipulators and election nomination brokers under the guise of opinion polls should no longer be neglected.

Kim Sang-hoon, chairman of the policy committee, pointed out that some polls showed the ruling party losing by 3 percentage points ahead of the by-election for Busan's Geumjeong-gu District Office, but the ruling party actually won by 22 percentage points.

He also said that the independence issue of the Poll Review Committee, which is attached to the National Election Commission, reasonable sample standards, and the extension of the retention period of the survey results should be considered.

Deputy floor leader Bae Joon-young also criticized that it is a serious problem to stir public sentiment by indiscriminately delivering false investigations to voters as if they have public confidence.

Secretary-General Seo Bum-soo said he would request an investigation if there was a problem after investigating over allegations that Myung Tae-kyun had obtained a list of party members and conducted a fraudulent poll during the last presidential election.

Earlier, Rep. Park Jung-hoon proposed an amendment that would prevent him from conducting election-related polls again if he had a history of punishment for the Public Official Election Act or the Political Fund Act.
