Lee Chang-soo, head of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office, responded to the Democratic Party of Korea's impeachment of the prosecution's leadership, which decided not to indict Kim Gun-hee's alleged manipulation of Deutsche Motors' stock price, saying, "I wonder if there is any illegality to impeach."

"Impeachment is a parliamentary authority, but it should be exercised exceptionally carefully," Lee said at a parliamentary audit of the National Assembly's Legislation and Judiciary Committee today (18th).

Impeachment is an exceptional system when there is a serious violation of the Constitution or law, and after he took office, he put his head together with the investigation team to conclude the case, and he protested, saying, "I wonder what kind of illegality there is."

Regarding the Democratic Party's announcement that it would pursue the impeachment of Prosecutor General Shim Woo-jung, the prosecutor general said, "The prosecutor general is excluded from the right to command the investigation into the case, and I wonder why."

Earlier, Democratic Party lawmakers held a press conference at the National Assembly's communication hall and said they would seek to impeach Shim, Lee's chief prosecutor, and Choi Jae-hoon, the second head of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office's anti-corruption investigation, in connection with the indictment of Kim.
