The Nuclear Safety and Security Commission has launched an investigation into the 4th Hanul Nuclear Power Plant as its safety facilities operated a day after the planned prevention and maintenance.

The Nuclear Safety and Security Commission said it received a report from Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power that the safety injection system operated in the process of cooling and decompressing the reactor during planned preventive maintenance at 7:17 a.m. today.

The Hanul Nuclear Power Headquarters believes that the incident was caused by a signal that the pressure of the pressurizer was low, and that the driver did not change the pressurizer input setting while cooling the Hanul Unit 4, which went into planned preventive maintenance the previous day.

Hanul Unit 4 has been in planning and preventive maintenance since the previous day, and its power generation has been suspended.
