Foreign subscribers received more than 300 billion won last year, adding interest to the premiums they have paid so far because they failed to meet the national pension requirements.

According to the data received by Kim Mi-ae, a member of the National Health and Welfare Committee of the National Assembly, from the National Pension Service, the lump sum payment paid to foreigners last year was 329.4 billion won.

By nationality, 15,000 Chinese subscribers received 85.45 billion won, or 26% of the total lump sum return.

The people who received the most lump sum payments per person were Thais, who each received 13.64 million won.

The National Pension Service returns the insurance premiums paid so far and interest as a lump sum when foreigners fail to meet the minimum 10-year subscription period and no longer maintain their pension eligibility due to overseas migration.
