Thirty-two people were killed and 17 injured in the collapse of the Seongsu Bridge at around 7:40 a.m. on October 21, 1994.
On October 21, 1997, three years after the accident, the Seoul Metropolitan Government built a memorial tower to commemorate the victims, and has held a memorial service every year in consultation with the bereaved families.
More than 40 people, including bereaved families, faculty and student representatives from Muhak Girls' High School, will attend the memorial service to commemorate the victims.
A representative of the bereaved family of the victims of Seongsu Bridge said, "Thirty years have passed since the accident, but the bereaved families are still deeply saddened every October, and we hope that such an accident will not happen again in our society."
