Six days before the upcoming general election on the 27th, a poll showed that it is difficult for Japan's ruling Liberal Democratic Party to win a majority alone, and that it is unclear for the ruling party as a whole to secure a majority of seats.

The Asahi Shimbun surveyed 360,000 voters nationwide from the 19th to the 20th, and the number of seats in the Liberal Democratic Party's House of Representatives is likely to fall short of the independent majority of 233 seats, with a decrease of about 50 seats from 247 before the election.

In the general election, 465 members of the House of Representatives will be elected, including 289 constituencies and 176 proportional representatives.

If the Liberal Democratic Party fails to secure a single majority of seats, it will be the first time in five elections since the 2012 House of Representatives elections, when it regained power.

The ruling New Komeito Party had 32 seats, but it was expected to fall below 30 in this election.

On the other hand, the main opposition Constitutional Democratic Party is expected to increase significantly from 98 seats to 140, and the National Democratic Party is expected to increase from 7 seats to around 20.
