Joo Hyung-hwan, vice chairman of the Low Fertility and Aging Society Committee, made the remarks at the Population Strategy Forum on "How to Revitalize Early Social Advancement for Young People" held today (21st).
He also noted that fierce competition for good jobs, called "golden ticket syndrome," has slowed young people's advance into society, delaying marriage and childbirth.
As a policy direction to solve this problem, it emphasized creating good jobs at the youth's eye level, solving manpower mismatch problems, and promoting employment with high school graduates.
Kim Yoo-bin, a senior researcher at the Korea Labor Institute who presented at the forum, cited the high university entrance rate, socio-cultural characteristics, and dual structure of the labor market as the reasons for the delay in young people's entry into society.
Lee Sang-joon, a researcher at the Korea Labor Institute, also pointed out that changes in recruitment methods, such as a decrease in regular employment and an increase in occasional employment, are creating opportunities and gaps for young people to enter good jobs.
