Prosecutor General Shim Woo-jung expressed his opposition to the Democratic Party of Korea's impeachment of Lee Chang-soo, head of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office, in connection with the indictment of Kim Gun-hee's non-prosecution of Deutsche Motors stock price manipulation.

President Shim responded to a question from Park Joon-tae, a member of the People's Power, to clarify his position on the impeachment of the prosecutor at the National Assembly Legislation and Judiciary Committee's National Audit of the Supreme Prosecutors' Office today (21st).

Shim explained that attempting to impeach a prosecutor just because he investigated a specific case could have a big impact on the prosecution's political neutrality and independence.

Then, the head of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office said, "We are responsible for the safety of the people in the capital city, and all major cases are concentrated in the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office," and stressed that if the chief prosecutor, who plays an important role, is impeached, the people will suffer the damage.

When Rep. Kim Yong-min of the Democratic Party asked if he knew whether the prosecutors subject to impeachment were guilty or not, he answered that he thought there was nothing to inspect.

In addition, Choi Jae-hoon, the second head of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office's anti-corruption investigation, said on the 17th that there was a communication error in lawmaker Kim's claim that he gave a false briefing on the request for a search warrant for Kim during the Deutsche Motors case.
