Prosecutor General Shim Woo-jung said he would exercise his right to command the investigation if an appeal is made against Kim Gun-hee's acquittal of the Deutsche Motors stock price manipulation case.

In a parliamentary audit of the Supreme Prosecutors' Office of the National Assembly's Legislation and Judiciary Committee today (21st), Shim answered, "I think so," when Lee Kun-tae of the Democratic Party of Korea asked if the Seoul High Prosecutors' Office will investigate due to the accuser's appeal.

He then said that the investigation command authority has been excluded so far, so he has been briefed on the results without seeing specific case records or knowing the entire contents, and that he will thoroughly check once more if the appeal is made.

President Shim said it is difficult to give his personal opinion on the disposition in terms of command, but he replied that the investigation team was reported to have considered the evidence and legal principles and that he thought he did his best.

Earlier, as then Justice Minister Choo Mi-ae deprived the prosecutor general of Yoon Suk Yeol of his command to investigate the Deutsche Motors case in 2020, the president's command over the case has not yet been restored.

However, former Democratic Party lawmaker Choi Kang-wook, the accuser of the Deutsche Motors case, warned that he would appeal the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office's non-prosecution, and there was a prospect that the command would be restored.
