The trend of the top market cap stocks was mixed.
Samsung Electronics, the top market cap, closed lower at 59,000 won after posting a new 52-week low during the day as foreign net selling continued for 29 trading days.
No. 2 SK hynix rose 1.92 percent to 199,000 won on earnings expectations.
KOSDAQ closed 0.89% higher at 759.95.
The local currency was trading at 1,375.2 won against the U.S. dollar as of 3:30 p.m. on the Seoul foreign exchange market, up 5.5 won.
