Suspicions arose that Kim Jong-wook, the head of the Korea Coast Guard, missed the meeting and visited tourist attractions on an overseas business trip to attend an international conference.

According to data received by Moon Dae-rim of the Democratic Party of Korea from the Coast Guard, Kim was found to have visited tourist attractions without attending the 23rd general meeting and closing ceremony of the North Pacific Ocean Security Agency in Vancouver, Canada, in September last year.

Commissioner Kim visited Banff National Park, a famous Canadian tourist destination, with two coast guard personnel for interpretation and execution, followed by Victoria Island.

In response, Commissioner Kim explained that as the head of the visiting delegation, he used the remaining time after the bilateral meetings between Canada and the United States as an official cultural tour period, and that the deputy head went to the general meeting.
