The 30th anniversary of the collapse of Sungsu Bridge..."Missing Samuchi"
Typical underdeveloped country type of thinking..."Bad welding and loopholes in management"
It has been exactly 30 years since the collapse of the Seongsu Bridge, which killed 32 people, including high school girls.
Even though it has been three years since Gangsan has changed, the bereaved families, who are still sad, have appealed for such social disasters not to be repeated again.

Seongsu Bridge, which was crowded with cars on the way to work, suddenly broke in two at around 7:40 a.m. on October 21, 1994.
Six vehicles, including a city bus, fell into the river with a collapsed pier, and 32 citizens, including eight students from Muhak Girls' High School, were killed.
Just 30 years after that, a small memorial statue was set up in front of the memorial tower of victims at the northern end of Seongsu Bridge.
The bereaved families still raised chrysanthemum flowers to soothe Samuchi's longing,
Students at Muhak Girls' High School
also delivered a poem of remembrance and honored the souls of seniors who died without realizing their dream of a flower-like age.
[Kim Hak-yoon / Former Chairman of the bereaved family of the Seongsu Bridge disaster: I hope that the same accident as the Seongsu Bridge will never happen again in the face of the noble sacrifice of 32 people at the memorial tower at the northern end of the Seongsu Bridge, which is heartbreaking and unforgettable....]
The cause of the Seongsu Bridge accident, which is defined as a typical underdeveloped country-type disaster, is poor maintenance such as poor welding and negligence in cracking down on large vehicles.
Seongsu Bridge, which reopened three years after the restoration work and expanded to eight lanes in 2004, is managed through regular inspections, occasional inspections, and precise safety diagnosis.
The bereaved families expressed regret over the repeated accidents of human resources in our society, saying that the collapse of the piers could have been prevented if the government had paid a little more attention at the time of the accident.
[Kim Yang-soo / The late Kim Kwang-soo, the victim of the collapse of the Seongsu Bridge: I couldn't travel this way. If you go to Olympic Boulevard or Gangbyeonbuk-ro, you'll feel a lot of sadness. The insensitivity to safety still lingers in our society because we are so careless about the life we can protect. (It's a shame.)
The Seoul Metropolitan Government said it operates an online monitoring system that can check bridge damage in real time, and plans to fully expand the system currently built in 15 of the 22 Han River bridges.
