Baemin adheres to a 9.8% commission rate on 60% of store owners
Baemin "Followed by Coupang Eats' aggressive strategy"
In today's parliamentary audit of the Fair Trade Commission, the issue of delivery apps, which is a big burden for self-employed people, became a hot topic.
The No. 1 Baedal Minjok in the industry only blamed Coupang Eats, the No. 2 player in the industry, but Coupang was not adopted as a witness.
Lee Seung-eun reports.

Only Baedalui Minjok, the number one of the three delivery apps, was selected as a witness for the parliamentary inspection of the National Assembly's political affairs committee.
[Cheon Jun-ho / National Assemblyman (Democratic Party of Korea): If we have to apply the free delivery, those who deliver to the store will lose 1,328 won (for one chicken), and those who deliver to Baemin will lose 1,691 won."
[Yoon Han-hong / Member of Parliament, Chairman of the Political Affairs Commission (Power of the People): (The Deputy Prime Minister) will check whether the delivery fee is calculated fairly. I made the announcement on July 3rd, and the Baedal Minjok announced a surprise increase in fees on July 10th. / Aren't you looking down on the government?]
[Han Ki-jung / Fair Trade Commission Chairman: We were also quite flustered]
"It is not a people of delivery, but a people of betrayal, a people of exploitation, and a Germanic people."
Lawmakers pressed Baemin to make concessions at a win-win consultative body between the delivery platform and the store, which is struggling regardless of the ruling and opposition parties.
Baemin maintains its position to apply the same 9.8% brokerage fee rate to the top 60% of sales owners.
Baemin reiterated that he had no choice but to follow Coupang Eats' aggressive strategy when he pointed out the demand for higher commission rates, free delivery, and Choi Hye treatment.
[Kim Nam-geun / Member of Parliament (Democratic Party of Korea): Would you like to expand the preferential fee rate further? No?]
[Ham Yoon-sik/Bae Min's Woowa Brothers Vice President: We hope there will be some fair trade order in the market and we want to expand the preferential commission rate.]
[Kim Nam-geun / National Assemblyman (Democratic Party of Korea): You mean that the FTC should first sanction Coupang for its demand for the most favorable treatment, and that the market structure should be properly established, right?]
[Ham Yoon Sik/ Baemin, Woowa Brothers Vice President: Yes, that's the case.]
[Han Ki-jung / Fair Trade Commission Chairman: Of course, we are investigating. We will quickly determine whether the law is violated and take action.]
He said that it is also inevitable to charge the packaging fee.
There were also concerns that the excessive fee problem of terminal companies that set up for orders and payments at restaurants may become the second delivery app crisis.
The still tyranny of the franchise headquarters has also become a hot topic in the parliamentary inspection.
It was pointed out that 67% of franchise brands in the four major sectors receive delivery payments only in cash from franchisees.
[Kang Min-guk / National Assembly Member (Power of the People): The franchise contract does not indicate cash payment. But as a system, I'm preventing credit card payments at all. That's why I'm forcing you to pay in cash.]
Unlike last year, when he answered in Korean, Peter Kwak, CEO of Adidas Korea, who was called out for his lack of win-win efforts with store owners, was criticized for answering in English and listening to questions with his hands in his pockets.
