Foreign Minister meets with families of abductees, South Korean prisoners of war, and North Korean defectors

Foreign Minister Cho Tae-yeol met with abductees, South Korean prisoners of war, and families of North Korean defectors who were forcibly repatriated, shared the pain of North Koreans and separated families, and emphasized the government's efforts to secure international support.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that Minister Cho met with Kim Jeong-sam, the brother of missionary Kim Jung-wook detained in North Korea, Kim Hyuk, a standing member of the Democratic Peace Committee, and Sohn Myung-hwa, head of the POW Family Association.

At the meeting, Cho said he will also participate in the UN's fourth regular review of human rights in North Korea on the 7th of next month to actively call for the international community's attention to the situation of human rights violations.

Participants also asked the government to continue paying attention to the issue of abductees, detainees, prisoners of war, and separated families.
