The summit will bring together leaders of influential non-Western countries, including President Putin, Chinese President Xi Jinping, Indian Prime Minister Modi and President Erdogan of Turkiye.
In particular, attention is being paid to what kind of discussions will come and go regarding the dispatch of North Korean troops at the China-Russia summit, which will be held for the third time this year.
Thirty-two countries have been invited to the BRICS summit, the largest diplomatic event ever held on Russian territory, with 24 of them expected to be attended by leaders, Russian authorities said.
BRICS, which was launched in five countries including China, Russia and Brazil, began to expand rapidly last year, with Iran, Egypt and Saudi Arabia joining in January this year.
On top of that, Turkiye, Malaysia, and Thailand are expanding their influence to the Middle East, Africa, and Southeast Asia, expressing their intention to join.
Putin said at a meeting on the 18th that 30 countries had expressed their desire to join the BRICS or cooperate.
Putin is also expected to sign a comprehensive strategic partnership agreement with Iranian President Pejeshikyan during the summit.
