Britain has decided to use the proceeds from frozen Russian assets to lend 2.3 billion pounds and 4.1 trillion won in purchases of military equipment to support Ukraine.

Local media, including the BBC, said the British government in June unveiled plans to implement the European Union agreement with the Group of Seven (G7) to use Russian frozen asset imports to support Ukraine.

The funds can be used for air defense systems, artillery and other military equipment, apart from Britain's current support of Ukraine at 3 billion pounds a year, about 5.4 trillion won.

Defense Secretary John Healy said he planned to consult with Ukraine on the details of the funding.

The U.K. government plans to push ahead with enacting relevant laws to allow new funding to Ukraine within weeks.
