A competition was held in which college students made their own self-driving cars and competed against each other.

In addition to related technical research, it is expected to be of great help to the supply and demand of professionals who are struggling.

Reporter Kim Geun-woo reports.

Cars run vigorously through the rain.

It quickly increases the speed by nearly 100 kilometers per hour and competes fiercely.

But the driver's seat is empty.

It is a self-driving car race made by college students.

[Lee Ki-hye / Master's course at Gachon University: As it is a racing competition, we tried to develop autonomous driving as safely as possible, and since it is the first real car competition in the lab, we tried our best to show you the technology of a real car]

Self-driving was implemented by programming radars and various sensors on the car.

Above all, we focused on the ability to avoid other cars or obstacles.

[Lee Jeon Hyuk / Ph.D. course at Chungbuk National University: It was the most difficult to avoid the car at high speed because it was so different when people were not in the car, so I think I spent a lot of time to create a controller that was not sensitive to things like that]There was also a

encounter, but it was an incredible race for students.

As such, it is expected to be of great help in nurturing professionals related to autonomous driving.

[Seo Jae-hyung / Director of Intelligent Automotive Parts Promotion Agency: (Autonomous driving) is a core technology used in various industries such as shipbuilding, aviation, drone construction, etc. beyond automobiles, so that college students can hone the skills required by the industry through this competition experience in real cars....]

In particular, this competition is expected to have synergy effects through exchanges in other technology fields in connection with the Future Innovation Technology Fair and FIX held in Daegu.
