After the September 19 military agreement, the two Koreas blew up 10 front-line surveillance posts and GPs each, sparking controversy over poor verification, but related documents were classified as confidential and could not be verified.

The secret was lifted after almost six years, and when I looked at the document at the time, it was quite different from the announcement that it had confirmed the disablement.

Reporter Kim Moon-kyung reports.

Last December 2018.

The two Koreas blew up 10 GPs each in accordance with the September 19 military agreement and began mutual verification.

[South Korean verification team / December 2018: Seeing that the road is clean on the way here today, I felt that the North prepared a lot.]

[North verification team / Dec 2018 : (Can't you check what's been confirmed about the underground?) Please do it well here. [If you want to tap with a pick, tap]
After the
mutual verification, the ministry told a press briefing that the North Korean GP had been completely destroyed and confirmed disablement.

[Seo Wook / Director of Joint Chiefs of Staff (December 2018): The underground facilities confirmed that the entrance, monitoring station, and gun eye connection were bombed or buried.]

But it's been a secret for almost six years. If you look at the documents at the time they were released, they were quite different from ours, which even completely destroyed underground facilities.

The ground facilities were completely bombed and demolished, but the underground facilities claimed that North Korea did not exist, limiting identification.

Guns for shooting or surveillance were also presumed to be disabled, and some reported that the North blocked or refused access, limiting doubts.

[Yoo Yong-won / People's Power: I think the problem of disabling and destroying GPs is an example of the last government's so-called fake peace show, which has led to a huge security vacuum and a waste of budget.]

Six years later, North Korea has declared the destruction of the September 19 military agreement and completed the restoration of its GP, and South Korea is also working on the restoration with a huge budget.
