Mike Jeffries, a former CEO of the American clothing company Abercrombie & Fitch, has been arrested on charges of sex crimes.

NBC reported that the U.S. Eastern District Prosecutors' Office in New York arrested Jeffries in West Palm Beach, Florida, on charges of engaging in human trafficking and prostitution for sexual exploitation.

Prosecutors also arrested two of Jeffries' colleagues for their alleged involvement in sex trafficking in Florida and Wisconsin.

Earlier, after the BBC reported on Jeffries' testimony as victims of sexual exploitation last year, a lawsuit was filed in the United States, claiming that Jeffries forced hundreds of models to engage in sexual activity using their jobs as bait.

Jefferies, which led Abercrombie from 1992 to 2014, has built the company into a global brand but has been at the center of controversy for a variety of ads highlighting the sexual appeal of young white men.
