Israeli forces launched airstrikes on 13 suspected Hezbollah strongholds in Beirut's southern suburbs on Monday night, particularly in areas near Rafik Hariri University Hospital, the largest public hospital.
Initially, the death toll was announced as four, but it has increased to 18, including four children.
The number of injured also rose to 60 from 24, many of whom are in critical condition, Lebanon's health ministry said.
