[Gyeonggi] Application for 'underground railway' on the three lines of Gyeongbu, Ansan, and Gyeongin

Gyeonggi Province said it has applied for some sections of three routes, Ansan Line, Gyeongin Line, and Gyeongbu Line, for the "Integrated Underground Railroad Development Project" promoted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.

The integrated railway underground development is a project in which a project implementer who has invested in the railway site repay the underground project cost with the income generated by developing the railway site and surrounding area through bond issuance.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport plans to push for a section with high completeness as a leading project.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport plans to announce the route for the leading project at the end of December after receiving applications from metropolitan governments by the 25th.

Gyeonggi-do Province applied for three routes: the Ansan Line (5.1km in front of Ansan Station to Daeha Station), the Gyeongin Line (6.6km from Yeokgok Station to Songnae Station), and the Gyeongbu Line (12.4km from Seoksu Station to Dangjeong Station).

Gyeonggi Province expects sustainable development of the city by solving problems such as noise and vibration by undergrounding the ground railway and creating a commercial, cultural and green complex space by utilizing the upper site of the railway.
