The Gyeonggi provincial government said it has come up with measures to reduce four key civil complaints on city buses, including "non-stop, unfriendly, reckless driving, and violation of the dispatch plan" to solve the inconvenience of citizens using city buses.

In order to prevent the non-stop operation of city buses, the province plans to use the Bus Information System (BIS) to measure the length of stay at the bus stop and slow down within 8 seconds (about 30 kilometers per hour).

In the case of non-stop operation detection, administrative measures such as fines will be strengthened in accordance with the principle of zero tolerance.

In addition, the top 100 non-stop civil complaints will be selected and a joint inspection team will be formed with cities and counties to crack down on illegal activities quarterly and semi-annually.

As a countermeasure for unkind behavior, we will make it mandatory to educate transportation workers on kindness and introduce a friendly driver certification system to provide incentives to excellent companies and transportation workers.

To prevent reckless driving, we plan to systematically manage the driving habits of transportation workers by introducing a safe driving web system with feedback functions and measuring drivers' dangerous behaviors such as speeding and rapid acceleration.

As a countermeasure for violation of the dispatch plan, routes with a compliance rate of 90% or less of the number of operations will be selected as intensive management routes to intensively manage the dispatch interval, including the compliance rate of the first and last trains, and administrative measures will be strictly imposed when the dispatch plan is not implemented.

Gyeonggi-do Province previously plans to convert 6,000 buses in Gyeonggi-do into a public management system from January to 2027.

The key to the public management system is strengthening public management of city buses.
