In connection with the so-called "36-week abortion" suspicion, an arrest warrant is being reviewed for the hospital director and the family doctor.

Police believe the fetus was alive at the time of the operation and charged them with murder.

I'll connect you to a reporter.

Reporter Bae Minhyuk, are you still reviewing the warrant?

[Journalist]
Yes, that's right.

Since 10:30 a.m., the Seoul Central District Court has been conducting a substantial examination of the arrest warrant for the hospital director and the family doctor.

In connection with the so-called "36-week abortion" allegations, police applied for arrest warrants for suspects for the first time in three months of the investigation.

In June, after a video of him having an abortion at 36 weeks of pregnancy was released on YouTube and a big controversy arose, the Ministry of Health and Welfare asked the police to investigate him for murder.

In the case of abortion, after the Constitutional Court made a constitutional disagreement decision in 2019, related legislation was delayed in the National Assembly and there was virtually no basis for punishment.

For this reason, the survival of the fetus at the time of surgery is an issue.

The police believe that the fetus was alive when it came out of the mother's body after conducting several medical evaluations and analyzing confiscated materials.

However, it is known that the hospital director and the doctor admit the operation but deny the murder charge.

In a situation where the statements of the medical staff participating in the operation were mixed, the police applied for an arrest warrant, believing that there was a circumstance of the destruction of evidence by the hospital director and the lead doctor.

If an arrest warrant is issued by the court today, the police investigation is expected to gain momentum.

Investigations are expected to continue into female YouTubers in their 20s who were booked for murder, other medical staff who participated in the surgery, and abortion surgery brokers.

The results of the actual examination of the arrest warrant are expected to come out as early as this afternoon.
