A civic group has filed a complaint against former and current chiefs of the police station where incumbent police officers have been misbehaved, including embezzlement of confiscated materials.

On the 19th, the Commission for the Livelihood of the People said it has filed a complaint with the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency against four people, including the current head of Gangnam, Seoul, Yongsan, the former head of Dongjak, and the former head of Wando, Jeollanam-do, on charges of dereliction of duty.

In Gangnam-gu and Yongsan-gu, police officers were caught stealing seized cash, and in Dongjak-gu, an administrator was arrested for taking more than 8 million won in cash from 500 transportation cards received as lost items.

In addition, in Wando Island, Jeollanam-do, a police officer who stole about 30 million won in cash seized from a gambling center was arrested in May.

The commission argued that neglecting the management and supervision of the subordinate police's criminal activities constitutes a dereliction of duties of former and current officers.

They also criticized the police's misconduct to take the lead in crime prevention, which in turn destroyed trust in investigative agencies.
