The Uijeongbu District Court sentenced A, a man in his 80s, to 12 years in prison today (24th) on charges of murder.
The court explained the reason for the sentencing, saying that A admits to the crime and that all related evidence is found guilty, and that the nature of the crime is bad and there is a possibility of recidivism if you look at the means and methods of murder.
Mr. A was arrested and charged with killing an acquaintance, a man in his 60s, by wielding a weapon and blunt instrument at a farmhouse in Yeoncheon-eup, Yeoncheon-gun, Gyeonggi-do on June 26.
Earlier, in the final trial, the prosecution asked for a life sentence, saying that Mr. A has not shown any remorse at all, such as handing over the responsibility to the victim.
