In this regard, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced that it will hold the 2nd Special Committee on Urban Improvement for Old Planning in Seoul tomorrow (25th) to deliberate on the "Basic Policy for Urban Improvement for Old Planning."
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport plans to finish establishing the basic policy as early as this month or as late as next month.
The basic policy serves as a blueprint for the improvement of old-age planning cities applied to old-age planning cities across the country and a guideline for the government to establish detailed plans.
As of June, the number of areas covered by the basic policy is 111, and it is expected to increase to 148, in 2030, and to 225 in 2040.
In its basic policy, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport presented goals and basic directions for reinventing old-age planning cities into future cities, specifically supporting digital twin-based maintenance simulations and operating digital platforms.
It also presented standards and principles for local governments across the country to establish detailed plans for each city of retirement planning, and specifically, industrial and economic revitalization planning standards for strengthening urban functions should be met.
Currently, 14 retirement planning cities, including Busan, Incheon, Suwon, Yongin, and Ansan in Gyeonggi Province, have begun to establish basic plans in accordance with the basic policy unveiled by the government in August.
