Nihon Keizai Shimbun reported that 52.1% of heirs aged 60 or older had inherited their inheritance as of 2022 based on Japanese government data published in the 2024 Economic and Fiscal White Paper.
On the other hand, 27% of heirs were in their 50s, and only 20.6% were under the age of 49.
The spread of 'no-no-inheritance' is basically coupled with the increase in life expectancy and the atmosphere of Japanese elderly people who want to accumulate wealth without spending as much as possible in preparation for longevity.
