2,000 North Korean soldiers sent to Russia are moving to western Russia, which borders Ukraine, after training, Kyodo News reported, citing Ukrainian military sources.

The sources said North Korean troops may be heading to the Ukrainian-occupied western Russian states of Kursk and Rostov.

In addition, about 10 North Korean advance teams have already entered Kursk province earlier this month and appear to have secured North Korean bases and maintained communication networks, he added.

Ukrainian authorities reportedly confirmed the North Korean military's move based on satellite information, eavesdropping, and internal Russian military sources.

Earlier, the White House said North Korea is sending at least 3,000 troops to eastern Russia for training this month.

The Russian Foreign Ministry has not confirmed or denied the North Korean military's position in connection with the North's dispatch of troops to Pyongyang.
