Land, Infrastructure and Transport Minister Park Sang-woo said there was no unified guidance regarding the reduction of the stepping-stone loan limit, adding that he was very sorry for the confusion and inconvenience to the public due to not having sufficient guidance period before implementing the measure.

Minister Park, who attended a comprehensive parliamentary audit of the National Assembly's Land, Infrastructure and Transport Committee yesterday (24th), explained how the stepping-stone loan was reduced, saying that he had asked banks to refrain from expanding excessive loans, considering that the size of policy loans could continue to increase, which could put a burden on the stable management of the housing market and household debt.

Minister Park also added that he will announce customized improvement measures at the earliest date, including excluding the application of non-metropolitan areas, considering the different housing market conditions by region, subject, and housing type.

He stressed that the measure will not be applied to the part where the loan has been applied, and that we promise to provide sufficient guidance in advance so that there will be no inconvenience to the public when implementing supplementary measures in the future.

Earlier, the government suspended the implementation after pushing for a reduction in the limit on stepping-stone loans, and yesterday (23rd) announced that it would implement a reduction with a grace period in the Seoul metropolitan area.
